Weezer is tonight.
Although he looks just like Buddy Holly, Rivers Cuomo is essentially the face and voice of Weezer, a pop-rock band that arrived in the early 1990s but then dissolved after their dark masterpiece, "Pinkerton." The band has been prolific since reuniting in 2000, crafting radio-friendly singles like "Pork and Beans," "Island in the Sun," "Beverly Hills" and "Hash Pipe."
The latest album is called "Weezer," just like two of the band's other albums, but it's known as The Red Album because of the primary color surrounding a band portrait.
Another relevant remnant of the 1990s, Tom DeLonge of Blink-182, will open for Weezer with his new band Angels & Airwaves. Tokyo Police Club, recent visitors to Urban Outfitters at The Gateway, is also on the bill.
When: Oct. 7. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Where: E Center, 3200 S. Decker Lake Drive, West Valley City
Tickets: $39.50 to $42.50 at Ticketmaster outlets or by calling 325-SEAT
