A few news bits for the afternoon:
1. When Motley Crue (right) comes to Utah this summer for Crue Fest 2, the band will perform the entirety of its 1989 album "Dr. Feelgood," from the first song to the last track. The band, nostalgix at heart, is celebrating the 20th anniversary of that record. That album includes Crue classics like the title track, "Kickstart My Heart" and "Same Ol' Situation (S.O.S.)."
2. In yet another bad sign for the beleaguered indie record store industry, Prince has partnered with Target to release a three-CD set that includes his two new albums ("LOtUSFLOW3r" and "MPLSoUND") and one from a new artist he mentors, Bria Valente. The set will only be available at Target, and will retail for only $11.98 beginning March 29. Good thing I never liked Prince except for "Kiss."
3. On June 30 Richard Thompson will come out with a career-spanning 4-CD box set, "Walking On A Wire: Richard Thompson (1968-2009)." Songs from every Richard Thompson album will be represented on the set, beginning with the folk-rock group Fairport Convention to his duo albums with then-wife Linda Thompson, as well as his two decades as a solo artist.
Here's Richard performing arguably his most beautiful song:
