Shows this weekend
... And you will know Salt Lake City when these shows come to northern Utah this weekend:
Satyricon
From Norway, Satyricon is a death metal band that is fascinated by the Middle Ages. Bleeding Through and ChthoniC are also on the bill. The band’s latest release is 2008’s “The Age of Nero,” and part of it was recorded in the same studios where Metallica recorded “Death Magnetic.”
When • Tonight (Friday) at 6:30
Where • In The Venue, 579 W. 200 South, Salt Lake City
Tickets • $15.50 at SmithsTix
Ingrid Michaelson (above)
The folk-pop singer was thought to be a one-hit wonder until her latest single “Be OK” became popular on Utah radio stations. Her music has been featured in many TV shows, including “Grey’s Anatomy,” as well as an Old Navy commercial that propelled her first song “The Way I Am” to success (see below).

Tickets • $15 in advance, $18 day of, at SmithsTix and 24Tix
... And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead
I share an affection for ellipses with this Austin rock band that loves to experiment and push artistic boundaries. The name could be taken from an ancient Mayan ritual chant, or it could be a joke: The band won’t say. Its sixth album, “The Century of Self,” was released in February.
When • Oct. 19 at 9 p.m.
Where • Urban Lounge, 241 S. 500 East, Salt Lake City
Tickets • $12 in advance, $14 day of, at SmithsTix and 24Tix
Say Anything
The Los Angeles alt-rock band takes its name from Cameron Crowe’s film of the same name. Bayside and Eisley are also on the bill. Say Anything’s self-titled new album will be released on Nov. 3. Bayside is a Long Island alt-rock band, and Eisley is an indie-rock band made of family members who definitely aren’t Partridges.
