Update on Reported DirecTV Deal
Nobody at BYU or at the Mountain West Conference office said they have heard anything about the supposed deal being reached between The Mtn. and DirecTV.
Javan Hedlund, the Mountain West Conference's Associate Commissioner for Communications, said if he or Commissioner Craig Thompson knew about a deal there would be a press release issued. Duff Tittle, BYU's Associate Athletic Director for Communications, said nobody at BYU has been contacted by anyone.
With Utah and BYU leading the charge to get the network on satellite, you would think those two schools would have been told.
San Diego State director of athletics Jeff Schemmel is apparently the only one that got the memo, or had the gumption to spill the beans on the big secret.
As more information is uncovered, we will let you know.
