"April Fools," Hall said.
But it wasn't entirely a joke. Hall had his ankle stepped on by an offensive lineman during team drills.
"It hurt for a second, but I am fine," Hall said. "I just got a big old cleat mark on my ankle. Some of those lineman are big guys."
The ultimate test of how serious it was?
"If we hadn't scored, I would have gone back in again," Hall said of his touchdown pass to tight end Dennis Pitta.

Quick hits:
- BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall said he was pleased with BYU's schedule. He said he likes how BYU doesn't leave the state for five of its first six games and how the Cougars only play one Thursday night game (at TCU, Oct. 13). "I am not a huge proponent of Thursday nights. We only have one of those and I am appreciative of that," he said. Mendenhall didn't spend much time going over the schedule with the team. He said he showed it to the players for "about 10 seconds" and then went on to typical stuff.
- The BYU-Utah State game is on a Friday night (Oct. 3), which was part of the contractual agreement between the schools because it is the same weekend as the LDS General Conference, according to the BYU sports information department.
- Freshman defensive back Byron Putnam intercepted a Hall pass today at practice and Scott Johnson batted down another pass.
- Offensive lineman Ray Feinga did not practice.
