BYU women's soccer star is drafted by L.A. team
Katie Larkin, a senior forward on BYU's women's soccer team last fall, was selected 19th in the inaugural Women's Professional Soccer Draft by the Los Angeles Sol. She was taken with the fifth pick in the third round. The draft took place during the annual National Soccer Coaches Association of America Convention.

Larkin, who ended her collegiate eligibility this year, had 11 goals, 23 points and 66 shots in 22 games as a senior. She was selected to All-American teams her sophomore, junior and senior years, and was the 2008 Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year and MWC Tournament Player of the Year. She was the lone Cougar and MWC player selected in the draft.

The Sol is coached by Abner Rogers, who has extensive youth, international and Olympic development program coaching experience. L.A. will play in the Home Depot Center, a 27,000 seat stadium which is also home to Major League Soccer's LA Galaxy and Chivas USA. The stadium is located in Carson, California.

The Sol will face off against the Washington Freedom in the Women Professional Soccer's inaugural match at the Home Depot Center on Sunday, March 29 at 3 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the Fox Soccer Channel.
