Rose left Tuesday night on a trip to the Central America country of Nicaragua, where he will participate in a service project as part of a group called Cause for Hope.
Freshman forward Charles Abouo and sophomore guard Jimmer Fredette will accompany Rose on the trip and also participate in the voluntary service. Rose's wife and daughter will also go.
Abouo and Fredette were chosen to go by the BYU coaching staff partly because they have the time right now (BYU just finished winter semester, and the spring block hasn't started yet) and partly because they are not married.
Nearly 20 BYU athletes and/or coaches will participate in the project.
It is the first time that Cause for Hope has taken a group of athletes to either Nicaragua or Honduras, the other country where it performs service.

We will have more on the BYU representatives' experience when they return.
