It was nice while it lasted
Utah no longer has low-priced gasoline. For quite a while now, Utah has had either the lowest gas prices or the second-lowest prices nationwide. Now, 30 states have lower prices, according to travel-services agency AAA, which tracks gas prices nationally. The average cost of a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Utah is $2.09, which is now just three pennies shy of the national average of $2.06. (For a state by state comparison, go here.) Economists predict gasoline to creep up to the $2.30 range by summer. Gasoline always tends to rise during the warm months when many families hit the road on summer vacations.
The good news is that shopping around can yield significant savings. Go to Gasbuddy.com or SaltLakeGasPrices.com to find low gas prices in your area. After consulting SaltLakeGasPrices.com, I discovered stations selling unleaded fuel today as low as $1.91 per gallon and some as high as $2.22 per gallon.
