Don't forget, you can enjoy a Swedish meatball platter at IKEA — normally priced at $4.29 — for only $1 through Tuesday, Nov. 10. That's 10 meatballs and a pile of mashed potatoes. If you don't find this appealing, there's always the $1.99 all-you-can-eat spaghetti and marinara meal on Mondays. Ikea has a store in Draper.

Ever wanted to take a spin around a race track? You can do just that tomorrow at the Miller Motorsports Park. Those who bring non-perishable food items to the park Saturday will be allowed to drive three laps, at no cost, around the park's 4 1/2-mile course. You drive your own car behind a pace car. The Internal Revenue Service says it has 1,140 refund checks worth nearly $1 million for Utah taxpayers. The checks, which were returned to the IRS due to mailing address errors. Some taxpayers are due more than one check.
While most checks mailed out by the IRS each year reach their rightful owner, a small percentage are returned as undeliverable. If you think you are due a refund check, update your address with the “Where’s My Refund?” tool on IRS.gov. The tool also enables taxpayers to check the status of their refunds. Taxpayers also may check on the status of a refund over the phone by calling 1-800-829-1954.
Pet treat recall
November 6th, 2009The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers that Pet Carousel brand pig ears and beef hooves that have been sold nationwide at major retailers may be contaminated with Salmonella.
This alert is especially important because pet owners handling these popular products can become infected with Salmonella just as their pets can. That's why the FDA is asking consumers who bought these products for their pets - most likely dogs - to dispose of them as soon as possible.
The affected pig ear products were packaged under the brand names Doggie Delight and Pet Carousel. The affected beef hooves were packaged under the brand names Choo Hooves, Dentley’s, Doggie Delight, and Pet Carousel.

Children's art easel recall

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of art easels manufactured by MacPherson’s, of Emeryville, Calif. The chalkboard surface coating contains high levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard. Go here to read the recall notice.

The CPSC also has announced a recall of outdoor play sets manufactured by Adventure Playsets, of Amarillo, Tex. This set was sold at a number of major retailers, including Walmart and Toys R Us. The plastic coated lumber on the horizontal ladder can weaken over time, resulting in a fall hazard. Several varieties are included in the recall. The company has received more than 1,400 reports of rotting ladders involving 16 injuries, including two arm fractures, lacerations, scrapes, and bruises and nine emergency room visits.
