October 30th, 2009Deep discounts this holiday season

What are going to be the best deals offered by retailers this holiday season? Stores will offer super-low prices on technology items, toys and apparel this year to try and reel in recession-weary consumers. Read what I found out here from those who operate some of the top deal-finding sites on the web.
Community information fair
October 30th, 2009The "Connecting our Community" fair on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 2531 S. 400 East in South Salt Lake is an important event for Utahns who are having financial difficulties in any number of areas. Organized by the Utah Housing Coalition, the event helps people learn about preventing foreclosure, finding affordable housing, budgeting and other financial skills. The fair also provides information about community organizations that can help people in need. The free event also features activities and trick or treating for children, free food, door prizes and haircuts. Go here for more information.

High value coupon roundup
October 30th, 2009Here are some of my favorites this week:

Save $1.60 off one bag of any flavor of Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters. ( IE or Firefox ) I printed these out weeks ago when they were first available, and now they have been reset, meaning you can print out another set of two from each computer. (Hit the "back" button after printing the first one.) The last time I printed these out, I held on to them for several weeks before I found them on sale - I used them last weekend to get four bags for free at Smith's. If you like this product, or simply want to try it, print out a set or two and hang on to them for the next time they are on sale.

I also went to Dole's web site to print off two coupons worth 50 cents off one package of Dole canned fruit, fruit bowls, all natural fruit jars or frozen fruit. Some of Dole's canned fruit (like the Mandarin Oranges pictured above) are priced around $1 on sale.

I also became a "fan" of Muir Glen Organic on Facebook.com so I could print out two coupons worth $1 off any Muir Glen product, which I used to get free tomato paste from Albertsons last week using double coupons. Even without double coupons, though, this is a good coupon.

If you're a fan of scented candles, there's a buy one get one free coupon available for the 2-ounce variety of Glade's The Fragrance Collection candles. Go here to get your coupon.

I also printed off a coupon worth $1.10 off Progresso brand Panko Crispy Bread Crumbs (IE or Firefox) Check out the Progresso site for some recipes using this product.
One note: Many high value coupons are for new products, so if you don't see the product in your favorite store immediately, wait a bit and it eventually may appear. Or you could check at another store.
Trick or Treat at Toys R Us
October 30th, 2009
Toys R Us stores have a free Trick or Treating event for children on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. (check with your local store because event times may vary slightly depending on the location) Children who attend will receive a reusable bag, which they can fill up with goodies and giveaways (while supplies last) as they walk around the store.
The retailer is having a sale, which can be made even better by using some of those great toy coupons being offered by manufacturers that you can print out at home. Go here to see some of those deals, compiled by AThriftyMom.com.
