Thanksgiving fun for kids

November 13th, 2009

Check out the fun craft and activity ideas for children on the Lakeshore Learning web site. One of my favorites is the "Plenty of Thanks" worksheet. The store also has a free art activity every Saturday. Check out what is being offered this week here. Utah has one location, in Salt Lake City, at 5480 S. 900 East.

It's that time of the week again, when that crazy web site  OldNavyWeekly.com has updated with new coupons. Stroller Recall

November 12th, 2009

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of 1 million Maclaren strollers. The company has received 15 reports of children placing their finger in the stroller’s hinge mechanism, resulting in 12 reports of fingertip amputations. The recall applies to all Maclaren single and double umbrella strollers. The strollers were sold at Babies“R”Us, Target and other major retailers nationwide from 1999 through November of this year for between $100 and $360. Go here to read about this recall.

Cheap haircuts

November 12th, 2009

Need a haircut but short on cash? In his blog today, fellow Trib blogger Glen Warchol highlighted the least expensive option around — Salt Lake Community College. Men's haircuts are only $2 at the college's beauty school, and women's haircuts are only $3. (Check out the full price list here.) Glen wrote about the college's new Mormon Haircuts commercial, which has become quite the sensation on You Tube. Check it out here.

Check out Target's free shipping offer this year here. It applies to more than 100,000 items, when you spend $50 or more. Turkey sales/coupons

November 11th, 2009

I bought two frozen turkeys at Wal-Mart for 40 cents a pound yesterday. Both of the 20-plus pound birds were less than $10, which will make a nice affordable meal (with leftovers and cooked meat for future meals) later in the winter. Shoppers snatch these turkeys up pretty quickly (there's a limit of two per person) but I've noticed my local Wal-Mart has been restocking them periodically.

While we're on the subject of turkeys, SmartSource.com has a coupon worth $2 off a Butterball turkey. Go here to get it.
