Kellogg's immunity claims
November 3rd, 2009
I saw this box of cereal yesterday when I was buying Kellogg's cereal on sale at Target. But once I read the label, I put it back.
Since I've been writing this blog, I have become a fairly heavy coupon user. But I have noticed that many of the products that have coupons available aren't quite so healthy. Sugar cereal is one of those products. There is no shortage of coupons and promotions for sugary cereals and toaster pastries, but I have a hard time giving these products to my children for an occasional dessert, let alone for breakfast. The problem is that by buying them on sale, using coupons and taking advantage of rebates and other promotions, they are so darn cheap, or even free. And that's ever so enticing!
Still, this week at Target I loaded up on Special K, Smart Start and other healthier cereal choices and resisted the urge to buy the sugary varieties. And I'm redoubling my efforts to resist buying unhealthy items for my family, even if after a sale and coupons they cost only mere pennies.
Back to Kellogg's new "Immunity" campaign. Go here to read what critics are saying about the cereal maker's claim that their products help support your child's immune system.
