103 million neighbors
One line from Wednesday's Utah speech by Mexican President Vicente Fox's speech that didn't, perhaps, get the notice it deserved, was when he noted that Mexico is not the worst neighbor the United States could have. Giving his own administration a good share of the credit, the visiting president of Mexico noted that "103 million people live next door to you in peace and freedom."

Yes, Mexico has a history of poverty and corruption that fuels all that illegal immigration. But you'd prefer, maybe, to live next door to North Korea ? Or Sudan?

Meanwhile, Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne Jr. notes that both sides in the immigration debate are missing one very important point. If U.S. workplace and wage laws were enforced equally for everyone -- native, legal immigrant and undocumented worker -- the economic advantage employers gain by hiring illegals would largely disappear, and everyone's workplace would be safer.

Good idea! You need to send that to our representatives to bring them down to "the real world"
