Our Monday editorial disagrees:
The anti-Bush demonstrators, just as participants in pro-Bush rallies this week, are exercising freedoms of assembly and speech that are the lifeblood of our nation.
So does the Constitution of the United States:
Amendment I: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Given that it is the Constitution, not the president, that is the true authority over the United States, it would not be proper to chalk up all this Utah support for President Bush to a simple tendency to respect authority. So what is it?

Rocky Anderson, God Bless Him, sure hit the nail on its proverbial head when he cited the "Culture of Obedience" at work in Utah, especially in our worship of His Highness, King George II. Only sheep would bow down before someone so obviously incompetent, so obviously unconcerned about anything except himself and his rich friends. I'll be there on 8/30 and it won't be at the laughingly-named "liberty rally." What a joke!
When I was in the military,I took anoath to protect & defend the Constitution not the president of the United States. If Bush has his way,the Constitution will be destroyed & 230 years of sacrifice by our forefathers will be flushed down the toilet.Bush is hired help.In private life, when an employee doesn't do the job he hired on for,you fire him.Bush took the same oath as I did.

Rocky, please run against Republican Matheson!
