Shun the salsa
First tomatoes. Now jalapenos.

Utah salsa lovers will be eating naked corn chips — or making a trip to a farmer's market — now that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has urged Americans to avoid fresh jalapenos.

Earlier this week, a pepper contaminated with a strain of salmonella was found at a distribution center in McAllen, Texas. Officials don’t know if the contamination occurred at the farm in Mexico , the center or a packing plant in between.

The FDA website says the peppers were distributed in 16 states — Utah was not on the list
