Three's a crowd
I stayed up late to watch the finals of "The Next Food Network Star" Sunday, even though Kelsey Nixon, (or do we call her Mrs. Egan since she recently got married) was kicked off last week, ending the Utah connection to the culinary reality show.

Lisa Garza, Aaron McCargo or Adam Gertler made promotional videos and created a lavish buffet for Las Vegas chefs and performers.

The performances were evenly matched. But instead of giving one of the challengers the boot, the judges decided to keep all three for next week's final, something that hasn't been done in the four-year history of the show.

Despite the lame decision, it was good to see Nixon get invited back — along with two other former contestants — to serve as a culinary assistant.

Too bad, neither she — nor Garza whom she helped — remembered to check the ribs before they burned.
