Too many tastes
I tried. But I couldn't make my way through all 33 savory bites offered at Sunday's Taste of the Nation benefit at Solitude Mountain Resort.

About two-thirds the way through, I realized I needed to save room for those luscious desserts, one of the best parts about this annual event.

More than 1,100 people attended the outdoor benefit and raised in excess of $100,000 for Utah programs that feed hungry children, said chairman Duane Reading.

The top sirloin in a seasoned sauce of bacon, jalapenos, tomatoes and onions from Red Iguana was one of my favorites. So were the carnitas from Squatters, the Utah corn soup from Metropolitan and  the braised red cabbage tartlette with duck confit from St. Bernard's at Solitude.

The best dessert? The chocolate chili pots de creme from Jaxon Stallard's Park City Cooking School.
