Sunday Selections

If you are planning weekend activities, here are a few "foodie" things to fill the Sunday, Aug. 3, docket.

The Sunday People's Market is a funky, low-key alternative to the Saturday option at Pioneer Park. It runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the International Peace Gardens, 1060 S. 900 West, in Salt Lake City.

Between noon and 4 p.m., the "Taste of the Nation" benefit will be going on at Solitude Mountain Resort.  The event offers gourmet food in a beautiful setting. It's a  bit pricey, $75 for general admissions; $125 for reserved seats. But all the proceeds benefit Utahns Against Hunger, the Utah Food Bank, and Ogden’s Community Action Program, which need help in these rough economic times.

Finally, you can catch the first episode of "Big Daddy's House" hosted by Aaron McCargo Jr., winner of this year's Next Food Network Star. It premiers at 11:30 a.m. (MST)

Why do you list the start time of the new Food Network show as MST when we're on MDT? What's more, the time calculation is backward. "Big Daddy's Kitchen" airs in SLC at 11:30am MDT
