Weekend possibilities
It's the first official weekend of fall and there are many food-filled options on the menu. Here is a list of the possibilities:

Today and Saturday (Sept. 26 & 27) head to Ogden for the The Greek Food Festival presented by the Greek Orthodox Church of the Transfiguration. Besides the traditional food and pastries, there will be folk dancing and music just like the Salt Lake version, only Ogden-style. The church is located in the middle of a neighborhood at 674 42nd Street.

On Saturday, The America West Heritage Center in Logan will hold a Fall Harvest Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Children's activities, a corn maze, music and plenty of chances to see how food was made in Old West are planned. There will be demonstrations on smoked sausage making, sourdough bread and apple pressing as well as a cheese tasting party and a Wild West pie eating contest. The center website www.awhc.org/ has the entire lineup.

Saturday also is the last chance to take advantage of Salt Lake City's fall Downtown Dine O'Round. Thirty-one restaurants are offering three-course dinners for $15 or $30per person. A few restaurants also are offering two-course lunches for $10. Look here for the list of participants.

Finally, the grapes at my sister's new house are ripe. We've planned our first annual "jamfest." I'll tell you on Monday how it goes.
