Cafe Rico opens
Just returned from a few days off and this good news was sitting in my in box:

Jorge Fierro and his wife Karen Palle have expanded their Rico Mexican Market and catering empire to include Cafe Rico at 545 W. 700 South.

Open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. customers can stay for breakfast or lunch but also get items to-go. Saturday service begins Oct. 25.

Morning options cost between $5 and $6 and include burritos and huevos rancheros. The Rico Benedicto sounds the most enticing: 2 sopes with eggs, Mexican cheese, bean cream and choice of bacon, ham, chorizo or vegan chorizo.

Lunch is $7 and includes tacos, burritos, enchiladas, rellenos and tamales. I'll be trying the flauta plate soon. And maybe a "beef tongue" taco.

Here' the entire menu.
