Chef Jones returning to Log Haven
Here are two dining tidbits from Salt Lake Tribune restaurant critic Vanessa Chang:

Look for Dave Jones, pictured here, to be the new executive chef at Log Haven, a post he held between 1995 and 2005.

Since leaving the Millcreek Canyon restaurant, the talented Jones has jumped around to numerous kitchens including Trio Restaurant Group, Sysco and, most recently, Bambara in the Hotel Monaco.

There is no official date for Jones return. Although, it likely will be soon as current Log Haven chef, Kevin Donovan, will be gone by the end of October. He is moving to a new job at Park City Mountain Resort.

Hotel Monaco executives in San Francisco are already searching for Jones' replacement.

And a sad note: Five Star Cuisine, a really good Chinese restaurant at 3361 S. Redwood Road (see Chang's review here.) is closing. The last day of business Oct. 29.
