The chocolate blues
Chris Blue is getting sweet reviews since the recent opening of his new artisan chocolate shop in Berkley, CA.

But websites and blogs, like this one, all claim that prior to moving to California, Blue was the first master chocolatier at Charlie Trotters in Chicago.

Technically, that is not true.  After Trotters, Blue spent a year in Utah, operating Chocolatier Blue, at 40 W. Main Street, in Alpine. His delicately shaped confections, with unbelievable fillings (such as passion fruit and caramel), were the best the state had to offer.

Prices, location and the state's unsophisticated palate all likely played a part in its closing just a few months ago.

Still, the Beehive wishes him well.

Fortunately, Blue's artisan offerings are still available in Utah. He is shipping them to Tony Caputo's Market and Deli in downtown Salt Lake City.
