Primed for comfort
In the last two weeks, I've noticed that Prime Rib is the "new" special at several Utah restaurants

Initially, I thought it old-fashioned. But it makes perfect sense. When times get tough, we go back to simple times and yearn for unfussy food. A slab of roasted beef with au jus or hot horseradish fits the bill.

Here are four places I've found that are serving this classic meal. If you know of another place, post a comment and let me know.

-- Easy Street Brasserie & Bar in Park City serves spit roasted prime rib cooked on its new rotisserie. The meal is $35 and comes with two sides and horseradish cream. It goes fast. On recent weeknight around 8 p.m., we were lucky to get the one of the last slices.

-- On Friday and Saturday nights, Log Haven up Millcreek Canyon., is offering its Angus Prime Rib au jus with bacon and green onion potatoes, greens and horseradish for $29.

-- Cracker Barrel Cafe & Catering in Paradise always was the favorite place to get Prime rib in Cache Valley. The new owners are keeping up with the tradition offering a prime rib special Friday and Saturday nights for $16.95 for a 10 ounce slice or $24.95 for 15 ounces.

--- Finally, when Left Fork Grill, 68 W. 3900 South, started offering dinner service on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays it added prime rib for $16.99.
