Saving Port O' Call
Nearly 1,000 people have joined the "Save Port O'Call Social Club" on Facebook. Supporters of the cause are asking Utah Senators Hatch and Bennett to help keep their favorite watering hole from being demolished.

In November, the Government Services Administration (GSA) used the power of eminent domain to condemn the Shubrick Building, which has been the home of Port O' Call for some 20 years. The feds want the land to build a new court complex.

The GSA began this process of acquiring the property about 12 years ago and forced the commercial tenants to leave, cutting a significant portion of income for the owners But then, for several years, the feds were silent.

In the most the recent complaint, the GSA offered less than fair market value for the building, according to the owners. The offer would pay for a building about one-third the current club's size.

The big question, however, is why the GSA has suddenly decided to tear down the building when there is no federal money to construct the complex?
