Devilishly good beer
"Hell's Keep," a limited edition beer created by Jen Talley at Squatters Pub Brewery, will be unveiled today.

Made in the Belgian "Duvel" style, this high-alcohol beer — 7.75 percent by volume — is a golden ale with lots of carbonation. It comes in a wax-dipped champagne bottle.

References to the devil are common for this style of beer because of its potent alcoholic strength and its Belgian name.

Squatters held an art contest for the beer's label. The drawing above, by local artist William Swartzfager, was selected from nearly 60 entries.

On her blog, Talley said she liked Swartzfater's work because: "it reminded me of many labels I saw as I traveled the countryside of Belgium with a crew of brewers drinking the best beer I have ever had."
