Sorry, just a signature and fee
Just got off the phone with Kim Fernandez, pictured here, and Betsy Karetnick, hosts of the "Morning Living" show on Martha Stewart Radio.

Initially, we were supposed to talk about the Salt Lake City dining scene, but mostly they wanted to know about Utah's "private club" status and when it was safe to come to the Beehive for a drink.

Kim and Betsy asked if I was a member of one of these secret clubs and how I got a card. I think they were hoping for details of a hideous satanic ritual or initiation process. They seemed slightly depressed when I told them all it took was filling out a form and paying a fee.

Still, I'll be happy when July 1 comes around. The strangest of Utah's liquor laws will vanish and when I get my 10 minutes of fame on national radio I can discuss more meaningful things like Utah restaurants, food producers and farmers' markets.

So you are saying it's safe to come home?
