Saving the Earth One Bag at a Time

Happy Earth Day! Many groups are encouraging people to make "just one change" in their habits to help the environment.

I plan to tackle plastic shopping bags, which are not biodegradable and are consumed or discarded at a rate of 1 million every minute. Few are ever recycled.

I have been collecting reusable cloth bags and have a good supply. Now, if I can just remember to take them with me to the store. Maybe this contest will help:

Through May 15, Smith's Food & Drug Stores are sponsoring a "Design a Reusable Shopping Bag" contest, the winner will receive a $1,000 gift card. Four people will get $250 cards and five will receive $100.

Get more information at the Smith's website.
