Milk chocolate from Amano

Utah's Amano Artisan Chocolate Co., which has won numerous national and international awards for its dark chocolate, has just introduced two new bars for milk-chocolate lovers.

Just like its dark-chocolate siblings, the milk chocolate is made with beans from a single area of the world. The Jembrana Milk, which comes in a green box, is made with beans from Bali, Indonesia. The Ocumare, in the red box, is made with beans from Venezuela. The bars may be the industry's first single origin milk chocolate, says owner Art Pollard.

The milk chocolate, made with whole milk and no artificial ingredients, contains 30 percent cacao (high for milk chocolate.), but still sweet and creamy. A 2-ounce bar costs $6.95 and is available at various specialty stores and online at amanochocolate.com

One more note about Amano, headquartered in Orem: It will participate in this year’s Food & Wine Classic in Aspen June 19-21. More than 5,000 food-lovers are expected to attend the prestigious event.

That ocumare is my favorite, and also my go-to gift for out of town food friends.
