PARKING KUWAIT
There is a certain serendipity to finding commonality with someone you meet when you're far from home.

The most obscure qualities -- a shared love of punk rock, a mutual acquaintance from an old job or having played the same position on the soccer pitch -- have the ability to bring troops at war closer together and closer to home.

The trump card, of course, is a shared hometown. There is, after all, little better than reminiscing about a favorite burger joint, drive-in movie theater or Friday-night drag strip.

Or ski slope?

That is, no doubt, one of the many subjects of conversation when Park City residents Paul Williams and John Lambert get together at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait. Army Lt. Col. Williams serves as a public affairs officer at the post, while Navy Cmdr. Lambert serves as deputy commander of the Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group.

Williams is a native of Park City. Lambert and his family, originally from New Orleans, moved to Park City four years ago.
