But the teen-ager has lost another distinction now, too, and this is a total shocker. Miles, the Jazz's self-proclaimed king of video games, admitted to me the other day that Dee Brown is better.
It may not seem that important, but remember, these are ultra-competitive people. Miles and Andre Owens' war over Xbox supremacy last season was ferocious. And I thought it was starting all over again when Brown bragged that he's the best PlayStation football baron who ever lived, or something like that.
His specialty is Madden '07, and Brown says it doesn't matter what team he's coaching. "I beat Boozer by 40 points playing with the Lions," he told me. Fine, I told him, but C.J. has long held the championship belt on this team. "Not even close," Brown said. "I can whip him."
When I recounted the conversation to Miles, though, I was stunned by his answer. He's proud of his gamesmanship, after all. But Miles, clearly routed a time or two, conceded that Brown is better.
Just at PlayStation. Just at Madden, on PlayStation, for that matter. But apparently it's true, having been determined in hotel rooms on several game-day afternoons. "He's awesome at Madden," Miles said magnanimously. "But that's just one game."

Phil --
I loved the item about the Madden '07 rumble on the Jazz -- especially since the example of dominance was how Brown won with the godawful Lions. I'm stealing it for my blog at detnews.com -- or borrowing it, I should say, since of course I'll give you credit.
