He didn't pick the hometown team
As requested, I'm going to man up.

I was wrong. So very wrong. I am so embarrassed by my ignorance.

It is definitely time to man up.

I picked the Rockets to beat the Jazz in seven games. Instead, the Jazz beat the Rockets in seven games. Houston had a 3-2 lead after Game 5 and five-point lead (and possession) with six minutes left in Game 7.

Boy, I was certainly way off with this pick.

The Jazz just dominated the Rockets, which any fool could have predicted before the series, especially because Utah went 6-12 down the stretch and appeared to have so many answers on defensive for Yao Ming.

My bad.

Boy, manning up certainly is therapeutic. I feel so much better about myself.

Steve, I agree that the houston/utah series was a toss-up (even though just about every commentator except Fred Carter picked Houston before the series). And in another surprise, al the ESPN guys except Greg Anthony have picked Golden State to beat Utah.

I was merely hoping that the Utah media would have (or at least pretend to have) some confidence in the hometown team.

Who are your picks for the next round?

I think Detroit and New Jersey meet in the Eastern Semi-Finals, and Utah and Phoenix meet in the West.

I'm hoping Utah is able to dictate the pace in their series with GS, and I'm thinking Utah in 5.

You're thinking Utah in 5?

You're simply not thinking. Guess you were out of the country for the GS-Dallas series ...
