He said his comments about Fisher getting a deal for the full midlevel exception were in response to questions about how he'd assess Fisher's value. Since Fisher was due to make nearly $7 million a season in Utah, Bartelstein said the midlevel made sense.
"The truth of the situation is we haven't reached out or demanded or asked for anything," Bartelstein said. "All our focus is right now is finding the best situation for his daughter's care. After we've done that, we'll talk about a contract."
Fisher said he had a half-dozen cities that made sense for him to continue his career with his daughter's care in mind. The short list of them so far: Los Angeles, New York, Memphis and Cleveland.
