Just consider that O'Connor plucked not one but two players from the end of the bench of a 33-49 Sacramento Kings team. Now Hart and Price are supposed to be two of the missing pieces on a Jazz team that reached the Western Conference finals.
Hart played in just 13 games and averaged 7.7 minutes with the Kings before he was released and signed with the Clippers. Price got to stretch his legs a little more, averaging 9.7 minutes in 58 games.
But apparently Geoff Petrie and Eric Musselman never knew what they had in Hart and Price, who will be expected to replace Derek Fisher and Dee Brown while playing some shooting guard once in awhile.
The Price signing was the biggest Jazz news while I was away in Australia - - yes, I checked sltrib.com - - and leaves Brown looking for a job. Yet Brown has honored his commitment to attend Junior Jazz camps around the region.
According to his last blog entry on Friday, Brown has been traveling for three weeks, to places like Duchesne, Utah, and Rock Springs, Wyo. "I went fishing in Wyoming for the first time in 10 years and I really fell in love with it," Brown wrote.
Brown still has a qualifying offer from the Jazz - - it's believed to be non-guaranteed - - and wrote that nothing had changed. "Other teams have called and talked to my agent, so I pray things work out for me in the next few weeks."
You can read more about Kyrylo Fesenko and Rafael Araujo in Tuesday's paper but the future for one in Utah looks a whole lot better than the future for another.
Here's another endearing tidbit about Fesenko: He's apparently a regular at the Gateway mall downtown and wants to get an apartment around there. So the next time you see him at Fanzz, Aeropostale and Hot Topic, step up and say hello.
The Jazz have encouraged Araujo to look to Europe for an opportunity to play. He might be able to make an NBA team out of training camp but would likely spend another season stuck on the bench, his development still going nowhere.
Araujo might be able to parlay a couple good years in Europe to a ticket back to the NBA. That said, only three years after he was drafted ahead of Andre Iguodala, Al Jefferson and Andris Biedrins, Araujo could be out of the league for good.

"If Jason Hart and Ronnie Price turn out to be key contributors for the Jazz, Kevin O'Connor's got to be the front-runner for executive of the year."
This has to be the most ridiculous sentence ever written.
Welcome back Ross. Looking forward to your more regular blogging.
