In Cleveland, the Cavaliers are apparently working on a big deal that would help them solve their point guard problem. Two potential targets continue to be Philadelphia's Andre Miller and Memphis' Kyle Lowry. I have to think Larry Hughes would be involved, but I have not heard that from anyone in authority.
The 76ers' keep saying they don't want to trade Miller, but he is the best chip new GM Ed Stefaski has to play right now and it would not shock me to see something happen -- despite all the denials.
In Houston, the Chronicle's Jonathan Feigen is reporting the Rockets have acquired veteran point guard Bobby Jackson from New Orleans for Bonzi Wells and Mike James.
This deal makes sense. Houston needs a reliable backup to vastly improved Rafer Alston and New Orleans, despite its perch atop the West, is short on depth. This 2-for-1 deal gives coach Byron Scott a longer bench.
I talked to Jazz vice president of basketball operations Kevin O'Connor late last night. He plans to keep the lines of communication open but downplayed the possibility of making a pre-deadline deal -- especially a significant one involving any member of the Jazz's young core.
