Who would you call?
I'm curious.

If you had a chance to vote, who would you like to see inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame? This year, there are 15 finalists. Individuals must receive at least 18 votes from the 24-member selection committee.

The nominees include Vic Bubas (contributor); Adrian Dantley (player); Bill Davidson (contributor); Patrick Ewing (player); Richie Guerin (player); Dennis Johnson (player), Johnny "Red" Kerr (contributor); Chris Mullin (player); Don Nelson (coach); Hakeem Olajuwon (player), Maceil Ubiratan Pereira (player); Pat Riley (coach); Cathy Rush (coach); Togo Soares (coach) and Dick Vitale (contributor).

As you can plainly see, this is a difficult task. Although every candidate is worthy of induction, members of the selection committee never vote for everyone and rarely vote for more than a handful of finalists.

From this group, who would get your vote?

If I had a ballot this year, I would vote for Dantley, Ewing, Mullin, Olajuwon, Soares and Kerr.

In Utah, Dantley's nomination will be the most closely watched. This is the seventh time he has been a finalist.

Looking at his entire career -- from DeMatha High School in Washington, D.C., to Notre Dame to the 1976 U.S. Olympic team to the NBA -- Dantley is certainly deserving.

Maybe it will finally be his turn.

What do you think? Will A.D. be part of the Class of 2008?

If I was voting, I'd vote for:

Dennis Johnson: Invaluable contributor to one of the best NBA teams ever. Three NBA championships, NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Award in the 1979 NBA Finals, voted into five All-Star Teams, one All-NBA First and one Second Team, and nine straight All-Defensive First and Second Teams. If Joe Dumars is in, DJ should definately be in. I expect he won't make it, unfortunately.

Olajuwon: No explanation necessary.

Pat Riley: I don't care for the man, but you can't argue with five championships.

I think those are the only ones I'd vote for. AD was a great player for a bad team. I loved Chris Mullin, and I would love to see him make it - I just don't think I'd vote for him. Patrick Ewing was overrated, and never won anything - although if you take into account his college career, he might be worthy. Don Nelson is an interesting choice - he won a ton of championships as a player, but is somewhat of a joke as a coach.

I think you're pretty close, Luhm. I might add in Dicky V.
