Millsap finished with six points, five rebounds and two blocked shots. But he was the spark when the Jazz broke away to a 13-point lead early in the second quarter.
His No. 1 effort won't be a TV highlight, but I bet coach Jerry Sloan notices when he watches a tape of the game.
Midway through the second quarter, Millsap drove, stumbled and shoveled the ball to Andrei Kirilenko. Millsap fell across the baseball as Kirilenko flipped the ball back to Memo Okur, who missed a three-pointer.
No worries.
Millsap got up, hustled back into the play, grabbed the rebound and saved a possession that ended with a Kyle Korver basket that made it 38-25.
This is where Houston will miss Yao Ming.
Without Yao, the Rockets' frontcourt becomes small and inexperienced. The Jazz can play Millsap and Carlos Boozer together for long stretches without giving up too much size.
If Yao was playing, Utah would almost certainly have to have Memo Okur or Jarron Collins on the floor to match up against him.
