All the Jazz have said is that they wouldn't be giving up a lottery pick to the Sixers and that they likely would surrender the pick with the 2010 draft, when they expect to have an even higher pick coming their way from New York.
That description was pretty much accurate. According to a league source, the pick the Jazz sent to Philadelphia is protected 1 through 22 in 2009, 1 through 15 in 2010, 1 through 17 in 2011, 1 through 16 in 2012 and 1 through 16 in 2013.
The Jazz owned the No. 23 pick in the first round this year and No. 25 pick in 2007. Assuming they improve on last season's 54-28 record, the Jazz seem destined not to have a first-round pick next year.
What's most interesting is that the pick doesn't even belong to Philadelphia any longer. The Sixers sent it to Minnesota along with Rodney Carney and Calvin Booth as part of a July trade designed to clear cap space to sign Elton Brand.
