After returning to Salt Lake City early Wednesday morning, the Jazz announced that Carlos Boozer would not return from a strained left quadriceps tendon for Thursday's game against Portland at EnergySolutions Arena.
Boozer had been expected to return for one of the Jazz's three games this week. Now the only hope for the All-Star forward to return before the team's annual pre-Christmas trip is Saturday against Orlando.
Counting Thursday, Boozer will have missed 12 games since suffering a strained left quadriceps tendon Nov. 19. That's only one game fewer than Deron Williams missed with his second-degree sprained left ankle.
The likelihood of Boozer not playing Thursday increased when the Jazz canceled practice Wednesday before leaving Minnesota. It is expected that Boozer will have to take part in an full practice before making his return.
The Jazz beat Portland last month while Williams was out with the sprained ankle, but the Blazers are now at full strength after Greg Oden's return and have won eight times on the road already this season.

So, it's not that Boozer got hurt again, it's that the coaches want him to get one full practice under his belt before he gets out there right?
