Boozer's opt out
So much for all the talk before the season that the Jazz wouldn't let individual agendas get in the way of the team's aspirations.

Carlos Boozer delivered a bombshell to ESPN.com after Wednesday's game that he'd be opting out of his contract after the season. Not a bombshell in terms of the decision - - it's what everybody has long expected - - but in the timing of it all.

Back on media day, Boozer said that he wasn't going to talk about free agency until after the season. Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor called the timing "peculiar," which is being more than polite. That's because Boozer's going to have a second MRI on his injured left knee Thursday. It sounded Wednesday as if he's definitely going to be out a while longer and is experiencing some significant soreness.

I asked O'Connor on the phone late Wednesday if Boozer's declaration puts any added pressure on the Jazz to make sure he doesn't leave for nothing in return after the season - - do they, in other words, need to trade him before he ever becomes a free agent - - and O'Connor said the Jazz have told Boozer that he is part of the foundation in Utah and they have heard in return that he is committed to staying.

The question now is if Boozer will opt out just to re-sign a bigger contract with the Jazz - - as Gilbert Arenas did with Washington last summer - - or if Boozer's already planning his exit even as he's missed 15 games and counting with a strained left quadriceps tendon.

Ok Luhm, we just want the facts here:

Your statement that Boozer "is experiencing some significant soreness" is pure conjecture.

Boozer, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

If we can trade him for a quality backup for Millsap, it would be a win-win-win.

I still find it incredibly myopic that Jazz fans take the business decision of a player as some sort of personal insult. At the end of the day, after all the accolades and competition it's still a business.

With that said, I guess it's not surprising that Boozer is going to opt-out at the end of the season. What I find "peculiar" is his timing. I can only guess he reads the papers and hears the rumors of how many people doubt the extent of his injuries. I guess that would irk me as well. But that is neither here nor there.

As a fan, I want the team to win. Nothing more, nothing less. Boozer's inability to play decent defense is definitely a sore point with me.

Boozer and Fez for Nesterovic (8.4mil)expires this year and Roy Hibbert. Jazz let Nesterovic walk at years end and have money to resign millsap, brewer, okur, and korver and get Hibbert another cheap big guy that may thrive in sloans system

My only question with Millsap is whether he can take his game to the next level. Meaning, will he be able to deal with the double teams, the focused offenses, and taller players?

At this point, Im not sure. I most certainly hope he can.

We've got to trade Boozer while we still can. Considering his hasty exit from Cleveland and his desire to play in Miami, we might as well get what we can from him while the gettin' is good.

Not only is he a soft, bitch when he's on the court, but every day I open the sltrib website to read yet another story about Boozer sitting yet another game. And then that soft, motherF'r then has the audacity to say, "I'm getting a raise, regardless."??? Get out Boozer, ya chump ass punk. And have fun getting owned without Deron around to make your career for you.
