But Will You Respect Me in the Morning?
House Speaker Greg Curtis sent flowers Friday to a certain representative.
And she sent back a large wrapped package.
Playing off of heated debate about lobbyist gifts to lawmakers, Curtis apparently was trying to soften the sting of Holladay Democratic Rep. Pat Jones' failure to persuade her colleagues to consider a gift ban. Jones' draft legislation included 29 exemptions for social niceties such as wedding gifts and floral arrangements. Friday morning, Jones received just such a bouquet.
Jones returned in kind with a giant wrapped box. Inside: a simple note saying "Thank you."
Who says Democrats and Republicans can't laugh the day after?
