What's in a Name?
Apparently honoring Republicans by naming things after them is okey-doke. Democrats -- not so much.

Talk of Draper Republican Rep. LaVar Christensen's efforts to have Hill Air Force Base renamed to honor former president Ronald Reagan got local government leaders and even legislators talking about acceptable and unacceptable monikers Monday.

Interim Clearfield City Manager Kay Chandler was gung-ho about recognizing the Gipper. "I'm a very devout Republican; Reagan would be fine with me," he said. If Christensen were advocating another president, Chandler said, the public reception would be cold.

"If you want to call it the Bill Clinton Air Force Base, I'm not OK. I sure don't want it to be named Hillary Air Force Base."

And Rep. Glenn Donnelson, R-North Ogden, said Reagan at least deserves as much recognition as former Utah Congressman Jim Hansen, who has part of Interstate 89 in Davis County named after him. Lawmakers also will consider whether to rename the road up Ogden Canyon after former Democratic Congressman Gunn McKay.

"A lot of people probably don't remember Gunn McKay," Donnelson said. And if Hansen is going to have a road named after him, "Gosh, we ought to honor that great man [Reagan]."

I propose that we name the urinals in the Capitol "The Reagan Trickle Down Pottys"

Since the wonder-lads also want to retain the "Hill" part of the name, you've got to think they're on to something here.

Let's name at least half of the counties in Utah after Reagan, too. Ronald Reagan Box Elder Country, Ronald Reagan Washington County, Ronald Reagan Millard County, ....
