Utah MMA Rumor Mill
Crissman VS Argile Controversy

Well, apparently, the Mike Crissman and Jason Argile fight during last weekend’s edition of Mike Stidham’s Ultimate Combat Experience ended with just a little bit of controversy. Argile, by several reports, won the first round and then got pummeled in the second before getting knocked down at the end of the 2nd round. He was saved by the bell and didn’t answer the start of the next round. And since it wasn’t a “straight” KO, Crissman didn’t get paid.

TAPOUT TV Comes to Utah

The TAPOUT crew is coming to Utah on November 10th to film an episode of their reality TV show. They apparently sponsor a fighter, who trains out of Eddie Bravo’s gym, that Mike is bringing in to face off against Oliver Bradstreet. “Olly” is a dangerous fighter who rarely trains but I still think his opponent may overlook the kind of talent that “The Menace” brings to the cage. I haven’t heard the fighter’s name yet but I’ll pass it along as soon as I get it.

Kids MMA at the Ultimate Combat Training Center

I had the chance to sit down and observe Phil Henderson’s kids MMA class at The Ultimate Combat Training Center (http://www.ucombat.com) . . . and it was a blast! The kids worked hard, had fun, and their technique was for the most part very sharp.

I wouldn’t normally say anything positive about kids and MMA but Phil seems to be running a very child friendly program that focuses on technique, fun, and the obvious fitness that comes along with the sport.

The mats were surrounded by parents who seemed to enjoy watching the class as much as the kids enjoyed the training.

Absolute MMA tops Utah’s Submission Grappling Schools

This may be a little late but Absolute MMA took the team championship at the American Grappling Games AGGRO submission grappling championships (http://www.americangrapplinggames.com/). An interesting side, Absolute only brought 14 competitors and did well enough that they came within 2 points of breaking Mark Laymons’ Cobra Kai team’s record total . . . Cobra Kai brought over 30 competitors the year they set the record.

Congratulations Absolute MMA!
