What do you mean ''gay cowboys''?
Late-breaking news: The Megaplex 17 at Jordan Commons late Thursday pulled ''Brokeback Mountain'' from its schedule for the weekend.
The change-of-heart came after ads in Thursday's paper touted advance ticket sales for the movie. In fact, the change came so late Thursday that today's Megaplex ad still lists it playing there. (''Brokeback Mountain'' is still playing at the Broadway Centre Cinemas, and opens today at the Century 16 in South Salt Lake, the Cinemark 24 at Jordan Landing.)
I'm working on a story about this for Saturday's Tribune. When it's done, I'll link to it here.

What's opening today?
The big studio opening today is the wide release of Lasse Hallstrom's ''Casanova,'' which will forever be known as ''Heath Ledger's other movie of 2005.'' (Here's the review)
The best movie of the week is ''Ushpizin,'' an Israeli comedy-drama about a childless ultra-Orthodox Jewish couple hoping for a miracle during the festival of Succoth.
Otherwise, it's the January clearance sale, with a whopping three movies -- ''Grandma's Boy,'' ''Hostel'' and ''BloodRayne'' -- coming to town without any critics' screenings. Be warned.

Review I wish I'd written
Peter Howell, Toronto Star, reviewing ''Casanova'':
''The movie contains so little sexual content, it seems pre-edited for viewing on airplanes, or perhaps balloon rides like the fake one taken high above Venice by stars Heath Ledger and Sienna Miller. It takes some doing to make Casanova seem less horny than Harry Potter.''
