"Trapped" and "Trapped" again
As the Tribune's Pop Top column mentioned Tuesday, the DVD of the 1922 silent film "Trapped by the Mormons" - the "Reefer Madness" of anti-LDS propaganda - has just been released.
It features an organ accompaniment by The Organ Loft's Blaine Gale, a commentary track by BYU film curator James D'Arc, and a documentary featuring interviews with the Deseret News' Chris Hicks and your friendly neighborhood Movie Cricket.
(By the way, the Organ Loft will be screening "Trapped by the Mormons" Thursday and Friday, 7:30 p.m., at 3331 S. Edison in South Salt Lake City. Admission is $5, and reservations can be made by calling 801-485-9265.)
Not to be outdone, Cherry Red Productions (a Washington, D.C., theater group) is releasing its 2005 remake of "Trapped by the Mormons" on DVD Oct. 25. It's basically the same movie - if you don't factor in the drag queen in the lead role and the polygamous zombie vampires in the thrilling finale. Interested? Go here.
