Au revoir, Lancelot
Robert Goulet - who died Tuesday at the age of 73 - could have been a movie star, if not for bad timing and bad luck.
He got his big break playing Lancelot in the original 1960 Broadway production of "Camelot," but lost the part in the 1967 movie version to Franco Nero. He was a musical-theater crooner in an age when the movie musical was on the outs, usurped by Elvis and the Beatles.
Goulet's movie career resurfaced in later years, usually sending up his Vegas lounge-singer persona. The best example may be in 1999, when he provided the singing voice for Wheezy the Penguin, belting out a smooth rendition of "You've Got a Friend in Me" at the end of "Toy Story 2," with a trio of sequined Barbie dolls as back-up.
