The drive-in turns 75
Happy 75th anniversary today to the drive-in movie theater. The first one was opened on June 6, 1933, in Camden, N.J., by Richard Hollingshead Jr.The web site UtahTheaters lists six drive-ins still operating in Utah:
- The Basin Drive-In in Mt. Pleasant
- Coleman's Motor Vu Drive-In in Riverdale (pictured)
- The Echo Drive-In in Roosevelt
- The Motor Vu Drive-In in Erda
- The Redwood Drive-In in West Valley City
- The Sunset Drive-In in Vernal
Of course, considering the price of gas, the drive-in experience may be more expensive than a regular movie ticket.
