Oscar Watch '09: The party goes on
Bad economy? What bad economy?
Certainly the folks at Vanity Fair didn't get the memo. In spite of hard economic times for the nation as a whole, and the publishing industry in particular, the magazine will still host its gala Oscar Night party.
VF editor Graydon Carter does promise some changes to reflect the tough times.
"We'll celebrate Hollywood's big night the way we did when we first threw the party 15 years ago—it will be a cozier, more understated event," Carter said on VF's web site. "And one with familiar decor—given the current economy, and our dedication to the green movement, we will be recycling many of the elements of years past."
Last year the party was canceled because of the Writers Guild of America's strike.
