Covering Jeffs
A whole gaggle of news media have signed up to cover court hearings in the case of polygamous sect leader Warren S. Jeffs.

As Wednesday's hearing showed, it gets kinda crazy outside the courthouse, with media jostling to get comments from the various players in the saga.

Nephi Jeffs, the sect leader's usually stoic brother, even cracked a smile as he was swallowed by the media scrum outside the steps, with reporters stumbling and falling and shouting questions at him. But he kept mum.

Another notable moment: Watching KUTV's Rod Decker and CNN's Gary Tuchman trying to out shout each other during a brief press conference with Brian Filter, spokesman for the Washington County Attorney's Office. The round one decision: Decker.

Here's who else has signed up to attend the hearings:

1-ABC NEWS/Prime Time

2-ABC Network News

3-Associated Press

AP TV

4-CBS NETWORK NEWS

5-CNN

6-Deseret Morning News

7-Fox (National)

8-Fox KSTU (Utah)

9-KCSG (St. George)

10-KDXU (890 AM)

11-KLAS (Las Vegas-Ch. 8)

12-KSL TV (Utah)

13-KTNV (Nevada)

14-KTVK TV (Phoenix)

15-KTVX ABC4(Utah)

16-KUTV (Utah)

17-KVBC TV (Las Vegas)

18-National Public Radio

19-Reuters

20-The Salt Lake Tribune

21-The Spectrum (St. George)

22-Sharp End Productions

23-Doubleday Books/Anchor Books

By the way, Doubleday Books published Jon Krakauer's tome, Under the Banner of Heaven. My bet is that spot is for him or Carolyn Jessop, an ex-FLDS member and plural wife who also is writing a book for the publishing house.

Who is "Sharp End Production"? I tell you what.. I am going to stay far away from St George during that time. It is pretty amusing to see the competing TV people. It was funny how Gary Tuchmann from CNN and Rod Decker got in everyone else's shots.
