Haymond was seen gladhanding with lawmakers at the Capitol complex on Wednesday, the day after he was ordered to go to jail during a hearing in 4th District Court.
Haymond, 69, was sentenced last fall to 120 days in jail for his no-contest pleas to securities fraud and theft by deception charges.
The jail sentence was stayed on his promise that he would pay $137,000 in restitution to his victims. He hasn't paid it and the deadline passed, so he was told he was going to jail.
Haymond was a registered lobbyist at the Legislature but his status currently is "inactive" and he has no listed clients.
That didn't stop him from chatting to legislators during their free time from committees and floor action, however, perhaps giving him one last taste of the power he used to have as a lawmaker before going behind bars for a while.
Cheers,
Paul Rolly
