Workman has remained mostly behind the scenes since she was acquitted last year of charges she misused public funds when she was mayor.
She reportedly has solicited the support of old friends Al Mansell, the former president of the Utah Senate and Sandy Mayor Tom Dolan.
The chamber's executive director, Tara Burke, said about 60 people have applied for the job and a selection committee has narrowed the field to 10. On March 10, it will be narrowed to three finalists and sent to the chamber's Board of Directors.
Republicans have called the unsuccessful prosecution of Workman a political persecution by Democratic District Attorney David Yocom.
It figures to be a campaign issue in the county elections this year.
Cheers,
Paul Rolly
